The local eagle pair are back this season and at the old nest spot. Above is a shot that I took on January 29th. I am hoping that the nest is successful this year! Last year, there appeared to be a hatch but a bad ice storm followed by another storm with heavy wet snow must have been too much for the eaglets. The photo above is of the pair out on the limb next to their nest. The snow was blowing off the pine boughs. We had had about 3 inches of fluffy snow the night before. The pair should be starting to spruce of the nest, if they haven’t already. I haven’t seen them carrying any sticks yet. If you want to see more eagle shots that I taken lately click on the link to my Flickr photostream on this page.

The last couple weeks we have had some arctic weather and small snowstorms (2-3 inches) with very fluffy snow. Today, we are in the middle of another storm. It is a little after 2:00 pm and we have had about 4 inches so far. It is very cold so the snow is fluffy so far. We may get a mixed precipitation later on. Schools were canceled for the day, and many businesses/offices closed at noon. It is not good driving out there. I love being retired. I don’t need to go out. I don’t mind the snow when I don’t have to drive in bad weather or shovel snow.

Stay safe out there!
