June 1, 2010

I can’t believe it is June already! For the past few days the skies have been hazy and smelling of campfires. Quebec has approximately 60 wildfires going on right now and the wind is blowing the smoke over New England. It is a bit better today. We hope and pray that the fires get under control soon. Many in Quebec have been evacuated from their homes. Yesterday, my eyes were burning (even Molly, my cat, was squinting her eyes).

On another subject relating to my last post – I found the photo of my mom in her youth dressed in her Girl Scout uniform.

  1. I, too, was a Girl Scout. Wonderful memories there. My brother was a Boy Scout, and even earned the coveted Eagle Scout award. Today it’s not so common, and even laughed at by some kids. but I was kinda “nerdy” that way. I was a Job’s Daughter, too, and I grew up and joined the Eastern Star (related to the Freemasons and the Shriners, as in Shriners Circus, Shriners Hospital, etc.). Oh, the Good Ole Days.
