December 2, 2009

It has been a busy first week of December. My sister Jackie has been in the hospital for 2 days for cellulitis that she has on her cheeks and nose. The doctors are mystified. They don’t know what has caused it. She is doing better and should be released tomorrow. She is in good spirits.

Tonight, my dad, Uncle Bob and I enjoyed the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center’s Holiday Party. It was very nice. There was quite a crowd there which was good to see.

There was a mini crime wave yesterday in Concord. Someone robbed Sears and two local drug stores were also robbed. “Tis the Season!” Seems folks get more desperate for money, etc. this time of year. The most disturbing one was an armed robbery of the new Fisherville Drug Store right next to 30 Pines – very close by. The robber stole drugs. I think the only thief caught so far was the one at Sears. Hopefully, the other two will be found soon.

The gale forced winds of yesterday have subsided. Many in NH were without power. Luckily, mine was only out for a few seconds. I went to see A Christmas Carol. It was very good but not great. It didn’t leave me with “I want to see it again.” The animation was amazing – but some parts of the movie were slow because it appears the director wanted to show off the animation or create a 3D effect (we did not see it in 3D). The little boy next to me jumped almost out of his seat at least twice. I wouldn’t say it is a children’s movie. It is very dark in places and scary for kids. In the middle of some of the very scary places – there is humor which seemed very out of place. The director was probably trying to lighten up the scariness of the scene knowing children would be watching. I don’t know if I will even buy it when it comes out. I will see.

We are having a mini-Thanksgiving today for my sister Jackie who had to work Thanksgiving Day.

I may try and get out for a walk today and take some photos..but it gets dark so early!

I am just playing with WordPress trying to see what happens when I do what. I am sure there are instructions somewhere – but I usually like to “fly by the seat of my pants” and forego reading instructions. I always feel it is better for my problem solving abilities – as long as I don’t get so frustrated that I want to throw the computer across the floor 🙂

The wind is howling! Power went out for a few seconds. I live in Boscawen, NH and we often lose power. Twigs and branches are all over the place. I am staying in until I head out to go see A Christmas Carol with friends. I am looking forward to seeing it.

Hello world!

Exploring the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center

Welcome to my very first blog. I have been running a family webpage for years – but want to try a new set up. I may take me a while to get everything organized.
Please check back often as I will be updating and changing information regularly (especially once I learn the ins and outs of wordpress.com.)

Have a great day,
Debbie 🙂
